My poor boyfriend, who has recently started working overnights, is sleeping. He's only been asleep for six hours. He said he wants to go to dinner tonight and get some Christmas shopping done. But as I expected when I went to wake him up, he DOES NOT want to get up. I don't blame the guy at all. But I'm hungry, and we're running out of time to shop.

To pester or not to pester? That is the question.

That's a no win situation. You will always be the bad person when you wake them from there sleep. I would tell your boyfriend before he goes to sleep to set an alarm away from his reach to an agreed upon time so that way it's the alarm that's bugging and not you.

For three years Hubby has worked nights while I work days. It will take some time to get used to a new work schedule. I would go do some shopping yourself and pick up some dinner on the way home for both of you.
It does get easier. But at first you'll feel a little alone or that you are doing things on your own. That will change with time.

Well since you already tried to wake him up and he doesn't want to get up, my guess is he won't get up if you try it again. I would just let him sleep as I am sure his new job is taking its toll on him. He probably won't be much fun anyways if he is that tired and you wake him up and go. If you can't go with him tomorrow then maybe go by yourself while he is sleeping. But I would definitely go get something to eat if you are hungry and get him something too for when he gets up.

Good Luck and Happy Holidays!

let him sleep and shop later, have a nice dinner prepared for him when he wakes up.
it takes a while to get used to working a late shift. and not getting enough rest is bad for his health, if he start forgetting things, then he needs to get more rest.
