you have 2 variables or letters in your equation so if u want to get y = somethng then i think solve this way
substitude x as 2 ok?
so...
2*2 - 4y = 8
4-4y = 8
-4y = 12
y = -3

Hope i helped!

It sounds like you are trying to get it into the form y=mx+b.

add 4y to both sides and you have 2x = 4y + 8

subtract 8 from both sides and you have 4y = 2x - 8

divide both sides by 4 and you have y = 1/2x - 2

thus you have a straight line with a slope of 1/2 that pases through -2 when x is 0.

Okay, so we need to rearrange the order of this problem.
First of all, move the negative 4y to the other side of the equation by adding 4y to either side, as shown.
2x-4y(+4y)=8(+4y)
to give us:
2x = 8 + 4y
and now subtract 8 from either side, as shown.
2x (-8) = 8 (-8) + 4y
Now we have the equation:
2x - 8 = 4y
By rearranging the answer, we have:
4y = 2x - 8
and by dividing everything by 4:
4y (/4) = 2x (/4) - 8 (/4)
We can see that:
y = 0.5x - 2

If you are solving for y, you will want to isolate y, so begin with your equation:

2x-4y = 8

Then add 4y to both sides,

2x = 8 + 4y

Move the eight to the left side of the equation (subtract 8 from both sides):

2x - 8 = 4y

Divide both sides by four:

(2x - 8)/4 = y

Now reduce fractions:

1/2x - 2 = y

Since you want to solve for Y make X = 0

So

2*0 - 4y = 8
0 - 4y = 8
- 4y = 8
-4y/-4 = 8/-4

Y = -2

2x -4 y = 8
-2x+4 = 8 -2x + 4
y = 12 - 2x

I think that should be it, or you could do this: i think.
2 +y = 12 - x
-2 +y = 12 - x - 2
y = 10 - x

2x-4y=8
-2x -2x Subtract 2x to both sides.
-4y=8-2x
-4y/-4=8/-4-2x/-4 Divide them by -4
y=-2-1/2x

flip 4y and 8 now you have 2x-8=4y
now divide 4 from both sides and you get 2/4x-2=y
tadaa ur answer

2/4x-2=y

subtract 2x from both sides
-4y=8-2x
divide by -4
y= -2+.5x
