im going to get a hamster..but i dont know what to name he/she...im just askin how long could my hamster live..

Hamsters usually live from about 2-3 years. This time span can be lengthened or shortened depending on their care.
Be sure to not handle your hamster for at least 3 days after you bring him/her home. He/she will need time to get used to the new noises and smells. Hamsters are also nocturnal. This means they sleep during the day and are awake during the night. When you first want to hold your hamster, approach him during the evening when he is waking up. Be sure to not startle him and speak in quiet voice.
As for supplies, never use pine or cedar bedding. Pine gives off a fine dust that can cause respiratory problems in small animals and cedar has an oil that can cause allergies. I suggest aspen, which conceals odor and is usually what pet stores use.
Your hamster should always have a place to hide, a place to sleep, a corner to eat, and a corner to go to the bathroom. At all times your hamster should have access to fresh water, fresh food, and soft bedding.
Go to petsmart.com then small animals then hamsters to print off a care sheet for yourself. These sheets give lots of good information!

About 1 to 2 years and more depending on the breed. So check out the link below and find your breed and then you'll know for sure. I really like the name "fuzzy" for Hamsters.

On average hamsters can live between 2 and 5 years depending on how well you take care of them. my hamster's name is Elvis. Good luck!

In capture, a hamster will live on the average of one to three years. We named ours Hamlet.

generally they live till 2-6 years. Mi first hamster was called skitzo- my mums idea and i was only 6 so i didn't know the connotations my hamsters now are called vodka, coke, gin, tonic, fosters and JD- (short for jack Daniels!) i know it is bad but it is very kute and funny want one called baileys next!
