can you trace/find out who someone is by a screen name?

Well i did get a bizzare IM on aim and had no idea who it was. Aside from blocking the person is there a way to find out who it was. Isn't there a IP tracker or something. how does that work?

try doing a search in the melissa data website:

http://www.melissadata.com/lookups/index.htm

and if you're an AOL member you should be able to track their screen name through AOL abuse

Hi. The police could, so it is possible, but as a private citizen all you can do is search the screen name.
