My son was three years old, when he thought of dying. Of course he was too young to use the term suicide but he did want to die. My son suffers from a type of Autisim called Aspergers Syndrome. It is a high funtioning autisim. He spoke in full sentences by the time he was two and could read and write. The fact he retained so much knowledge at such a young age caused him so much confusion and through the confusion caused him paint to always be perfect. Having to be "perfect" and "right" all the time is a heavy load for such a young mind. I could remember him saying things like, "Please mommy be careful when you cross the street, if I get hit and killed thats okay, but I don't want you to die". Or he would say things like, "I don't want to eat anymore so I can get so small and die". He is 14 now and doing absolutely wonderful and we have the best relationship in the world. It took three years for me to find the right help for him and the right therapist for him. I quit my career, sold almost everything I owned, to pay for the best help for him money could buy. He is my life and it was so worth it. So please, don't allow one therapist that is not knowledgable to make you feel alone. Also don't allow yourself to be short changed from getting the proper help you need. You are so important to this world. There is so much you can do and we, as a whole world, need you here to help us move on and become a better class of people and a better planet. I don't know you and I am unsure of your age, but I am assuming you are young. So what may seem as a heavy load on you now, I can promise you, it gets easier as you get older and wiser. And when I say older, I don't mean you have to be 50, 60 or 90 to be wiser, I just mean, when you are out of puberty where your body feels one way and your mind feels another. Please talk to your parents and ask for another therapist, you deserve that. And remember that no one is perfect, no one has to be perfect either. Just be the best you can and be kind to others AND most of all, be kind to yourself.

Unfortunately.... a qualified therapist would not be shocked. It is very well known that suicide or attempts are rather common in young people. Sad but true and any therapist that knows his/her job would already know that. More adults try...but by percentage more kids succeed...
I recommend that find a new therapist, and talk to a school counselor if necessary... life is worth living even if you think it isn't... you just haven't found the one thing that makes you drive on.... stick around and find your passion for life.

I remember wanting to just die and disappear at 8. There were quite a few times where I'd wake up in the middle of the night and go to the kitchen and get a knife and ... well, I always ended up being too afraid to do it. I would just cry instead and hope that everything would be better.

There was someone down the road from where I used to live who hanged himself. Think he was around 16. I only really started thinking about it when I was 18.

I was suicidal in the 4th grade. Used to pray every night that God would let me die.
