need to check for any key rookies ......

value also depends a lot on condition of cards

best thing to do is find a price guide magazine
(Tuff Stuff & Sports Cards Digest are good for most older cards, Beckett's has more limited listing, but good for checking recent issues of top brands)

Go to the magazine section of a big store or a book store and find a monthly price guide. I would try Wal-Mart or another big store like that or a book store.

The best monthly price guide is Beckett Baseball Monthly, but if it's not there, look at one that isn't sealed.

When you go, make sure you can remember what brand of cards you have, and what year. They're listed by year, then alphabetically. When you find the heading for that year, the price of the set should be listed at the top. If there's a "set" and a "factory set", you probably want "set" since factory sets are rare and that's probably not what you have. There's probably 2 rows of prices for the same set, too. Go by the second one. Now even though that's a price they list, it's probably not what you would get for them if you sold them. You're probably only guaranteed to get about 1/3 to 1/2 of that. Unfortunately it works out that way. But don't fret. Just remember the number in the book and write it down or keep it in your noggin for later use.

You only have to look up 2 things, so I wouldn't buy the whole magazine.
