It is Mount Fujiyama. but just Mt Fuji for short. It is an inactive volcano. Can be a b***h to climb....well, not so much going up as coming back down!

Please not Mt Fujiyama or Fujiyama san..... since yama and san in this case both means mountain. "Yama" is Japanese for mountain while "san" is the Japanese pronounciation for the Chinese character for mountain which is pronounced "Shan" in Chinese. I'm not sure if shan is Mandarin, Cantonese or another dialect though.

Fuji san is the most popular and Fuji yama is no longer used as much.

In English Mt Fuji is just fine.

This is from Encyclopedia Britannica.
"Japanese Fuji-san , also called Fujiyama , or Fuji No Yama highest mountain in Japan, rising to 12,388 feet (3,776 metres) near the Pacific coast in Yamanashi and Shizuoka ken"

The famous mountain in Japan is Fujiyama-san. We know it as Mount Fuji. This mountain is on the island of Honshu and is an inactive volcano. Mount Fuji reaches 12,388 feet up in the air. Mount Fuji is snow covered and beautiful. It can look different depending on the time of year, weather, time of day, and the location where you see it.

Mount Fuji. Amazing thing. It's really a volcano, and the thing is that it is such a perfect volcano shape, with just enough imperfection to it that it is satisfyingly natural.
