Wasn't it from exposure to the cold? He did travel pretty far, if I recall, to try and get help for his wife and children.

He is a true hero, who died of exposure to the cold..Trying to save his family .. He must have thought he was in hell, as well as his family, How in the great U.S.A. could something like this happen, it seems so surreal, I can't for the life of me understand why a helicopter couldnt spot the family sooner,, they even burned the tires on their care to stay warm.. What a horrible ending ....

OH wasn't that terrible he went looking for help for his family and due to the weather he froze to death. I just didn't understand why they coun't find him in time before he died.
