i was told i was getting a notebook for xmas, however, i dont know what to get? whats the ideal laptop? i know imac's are real good, but there's no imac money. compaq? hp? gateway? dell?

Well, an iMac isn't a laptop. You should try a MacBook. The price range for those are 1,000-2,000. I'm actually asking for one for Christmas as well. I don't know if I'm getting it. Trust me, I have an iMac, and Macs are the best you can have. THEY DO NOT GET ANY VIRUSES AT ALL. Not a single one. Even if you tried to get one, you wouldn't be able to.

Get a Mac! Remember, computers are tools, and the best tools are the ones that cause the fewest problems.
