sure....of course they are not called "insane asylums" anymore, but yes there are some state hospitals that are underfunded and always risking closure....

Of course there are hospitals like that in every state. They aren't the way peopel think they are. If you watch the movie Manic its kinda like that. They don't strap you to a bed with a straight jacket unless they have too but its like boarding school where instead of having classes you have councilling and meds.

Elgin state mental hospital is still up and running. It's in Elgin, Illinois. I think they changed the name to Elgin Mental Health Center. Either way, it's still the same place. Look it up online.

there all literally hundreds, if you type in a state and then a state hospital one should come up there is a lots still in operation, good luck

Yep theres one in Wichita Falls , Texas not sure what the name is but i know it is still in use. It is a state hospital.
