What if the dog you had for two years was put down because your new tenants kid came up behind it while it was sleeping and scared it so its reaction was a bite, but it wasn't put down for this, it was what happened two months later when the kid did the same thing and didn't get a scratch on her? What if your tenants said they wouldn't sue as long as the dog was put down [which also happened about two days before you birthday] but about a mnoth after you recieve a letter from your tenants lawyer stating they were going to take 30k out of your house insurance because of this bite?

technically, you can sue them for negligence and not taking care of their kid. if the dog bit her as an unprovoked attack, that's a different story. in your case, the dog responded to the little kid's stimulus. it's not fair to you to have your dog put down, for something their kid did when they weren't watchin her.

i don't think they can take 30000 out of your house insurance, something sounds fishy about this. talk to a lawyer

I was in a simliar situation but without the consequences you had this neighbor kid came onto my property and teased my german sheppard who is highly trained to protect the property well the kid got bit and the parents tried to sue and tried having him put down but couldnt because the kid came onto my property and the dog was on an electric fence which is 15 ft from the property line and animal control said my dog was viicious which you might think he is because of the dog. But to answer your question i wouldve contacted an attorney and fought all hell before i let anything happen to my dog. I am sure they were using scar tactics with the letter but i would have fought real hard for the dog....

Cast them out of your house....
Agree to keep the dog contained or something... I do not think he should be put down. They just love money.... If they cannot deal with the dog let them leave. Tenants are not so hard to find thee days.

I have no idea what I would do, but that really stinks. People make me so mad. It seems like this world is SO sue happy these days. People will sue you for looking at them the wrong way. I'm SO sorry. Good luck.
