I just came back from a visit to a third world country. I toured by bus through Progresso, Mexico and Belize City, Belize and Guatemala. There is nothing in the USA that looks like this and no people in the USA live like this, there is no comparison.

But I do believe the USA should be helping there poor and disadvantaged before throwing thousands of dollars into these countries. Many are corrupt and the poor people never prosper.

As I toured on a bus and saw the filth and poverty all I could think about was the tons of usable items the USA throws into landfills each year. These clothes, toys, household applianes, blankets and such can be used to help these poor people around the world. But instead we throw it all away. I realize the problem is the shipment to the countries but I also believe there is a way lets just FIND IT. Our waste is another mans treasure.

In Progresso, I saw concrete cubicles with no windows or doors just open front and back. Inside was dirt and some had broken dirty sofas and hammocks and televisions that did not work right. Trash everywhere and the cars were older than the hills. Why have a door when no one would take the stuff you own as basically it is trash?

In Belize City, some areas were slightly better but if they had a house no one had much paint on the outside. Therefore, the wood is full of mold. I assume these poor people breathe toxic mold all day every day. No wonder they dont live long. And the poorest build shanties out of cardboard and tin. To make money they send their kids to the tour buses with Huge Lizards and Snakes and offer the Americans to take their photos for a hand full of change. Much of this area has been stripped due to constant huricanes. No one lives well here, except the Mayor.

So go to the slums in any US city and you will see a step above what these people endure. We should not complain about our brothers and sisters living in poverty in the USA we should all pitch in and HELP.

There are several different reasons of what 'Third World' means. Economics being one, development being another, how they were founded and not forgetting the 'Cold War'... There is absolutely no insult or racism in calling India third world, as it stands today it is still classed as it. Hayden has spoken out due to the problem that India had with the sight screen, over here where they are all operated on electrics (which are by no means perfect) we are use to the sight screen being turned around by the operation of a button. India didnt have this reliabilty an had to use manual labour to move em, most of the time this wasnt available and countless times Australia and India were waiting..

Exactly which parts?

If you have running water and electricity, you are way ahead of the actual third world. I see homeless people and people living in really poor housing, but almost no one has a dirt floor or builds their own hut out of sticks... so I think the US is still far ahead of most other countries.

If you can manage to beg the money to go to the public pool and shower a few times a week, you can probably land a job at McDonalds... and in many places that wage is enough to rent a small room or apartment, which puts you into a really decent standard of living, compared to the "thirld world".

Some parts of the US "looks like" the third world because Israel fleeces America out of 3 billion dollars per year, yes per year, which could have been used for our development work. On top of that, Israel sends us out to fight wars for them. Look at Iraq - Our money, our guns, ... the dead is also ours. All of these could have been used for "butter" instead of guns for the U.S people.

The Hitler like state of Israel briilliantly planned to con the US, and they brilliantly executed the plan! That is why, some of our parts may look like a third world country.

Which parts of the US are you referring to? I grew up in a third world country in Asia and have been to many cities in the US so I can honestly say that even the poorest areas in the US have it much better than most third world countries. Unless you go to the very rural areas in America, you are guaranteed running water, plumbing, and electricity. Whereas many third world nations do not have that luxury.

I have been to third world countries and we have nothing on them. I don't blame the illegals for risking their lives to get here. You just go south of the border and you will see places that make the worst parts of this country look like Beverly Hills.

Because large parts of the United States ARE the third world. Or are wannabes.

that's the way people are.

Go to Europe. Go to Native reserves in Canada. You'll
see the same stuff. Neither are really "third world". Go to
East Timor....then write a letter.
