An open hole on the acoustic is a perfect 'feedback' loop and the amplification equipment does not agree with it. So cover it and eliminate the back bounce. This hole cover is made of flexible rubber with a groove around it's edge and it fits snug into the sound hole..

They do not block the hole. You are seeing a pick-up for a non-electric acoustic.

Who does that? I'd think that if you were mounting an acoustic pickup you would block the hole. Other than that it would just mute the sound.
