Moving to a new high school can be very difficult. Try to be cautious about making friends at first, because sometimes the troublemakers pounce on a new student. They know that you are feeling lonely and want to make friends, so they take advantage of that and try to get you in their group. Be friendly and smile, but don't try to be too friendly at first. The best thing you can do is to join a club as soon as possible. That's where you can make friends with similar interests. Be true to yourself and don't get talked into doing or saying anything that you know is wrong. If you stick by your principles and remain friendly, you will soon make friends.

And you are... there are pros and cons... when I was growing up, we moved a lot. I was the "new kid" a lot. But we moved so much that it turned out to be a benefit to me. As kids, if we wanted to have friends, we had to make them ourselves. Due to that, all of us kids can go anywhere and meet folks, talk to them, and get a new friend. But, on the other hand, because this will be the first move, it will be hard on you. I also moved my kids around a lot, but when they hit 3rd and 4th grade, I promised them that the friends they make now will be the same ones through highschool. My advise to you is do not let anyone know that you are nervous (and you will be nervous thrown into a room with kids you do not know), it will be ok, but scary. If you go there in the shy mode, you will be a target for the bullies..

I would make friends slowly until you know what groups are good and what are bad.
