The inside of the mouse gets gunked up with dirt, etc... you can clean the ball with a little alchohol and swab clean the rollers inside.. but with the price so low go out and buy an optical mouse, no ball to get gunked up... time to upgrade you'll love the new mouse.

I would very much suggest not switching the mouse ball around from mouse to mouse, as they may be different sizes and it might make the mouse not work so well.

If your mouse is sticking it is most likely NOT the mouse ball being dirty that is the culprit, its the small rollers inside of the mouse. These days in almost every ball mouse there are 3 rollers inside. One for the X movement (side to side), one for the Y movement (up and down), and another at an angle with the spring to put a little pressure on the ball and keep it in line.

I would recomend cleaning your mouse rollers and wiping off the mouse ball with a damp cloth. Take a small screw driver, knife, or tooth pick and scrape off all of the gunk that has built up around the rollers, be sure to roll them around and get everything off of it. Its typically hard brownish gross stuff, and there is probably hair in there too. Blow out the inside of the mouse to get the hair out if you need to. Be sure to clean all three rollers completely, then put the mouse ball back in. I'd also recomend keeping the mouse pad clean so you dont have to keep opening the mouse and cleaning it out.

I have used this technique to clean the mice of 20 year old computers that were hardly usable due to gunk build up, and aftewards they perform like the first day they were purchased.

Hopefully this should help you get back to mousing. :) I would also recommend looking into an optical mouse, most of them are much more precise and you never again have to worry about the mouse ball sticking when you're trying to use it.

convinced, sparkling it. In maximum ball varieties the ball is held in by technique of a plastic ring around the ball --in case you look heavily you'll see arrows exhibiting you which ones way as an example the hoop to open it and allow the ball fall out. sparkling the ball with alcohol and set it aside. next look contained in the hollow the position the ball develop into...there are 2 little rollers in there rather below the sting of of the hollow. making use of a small pen knife scrap gently at any black dirt to eliminate it - once all the dirt is lengthy gone it ought to have fallen into the mouse. carry the mouse hollow part down and shake out the dirt. next wash the rollers of with somewhat alcohol making use of a qtip or some such element. enable a couple of minutes for the alcohol to dry replace the ball contained in the hollow replace the hoop turning it to lock it and your mouse could artwork like new till it receives dirty again.

The problem is probably not in the ball, but in your mouse itself. Maybe one of the mothion sensors is clogged up or something. With these kinds of mice, you have to clean them every once in a while (a pair of tweezers will do.) I would personally recommend getting an optical mouse (the ones with lasers)

Perhaps the mouse ball is clean and OK. Check the insides of the mouse and clean the rollers there. They tend to collect dust and lint, that interferes with the smooth operation.

Wash the ball with hot, soapy water. Dry it off thoroughly with a clean paper towel.

Look inside the ball cavity and clean out any gunk. There will be 2 or 3 wheels and / or rods that will have gunk all over them most likely. Clean the gunk out -- scratch it with a fingernail and blow it out clean.

Put the ball back in. Your mouse should work as new.

Mice like clean balls, just like we do. ;)
