Because they can. It is criminal that the Muslim women haven't learned how to control the men yet. They could learn a lot from the Jews who have perfected the proverbial (cat like) whipped male

Islamic people do not wrap their women in bags and treat them like property. Women in Islam are highly regarded as equal and at times are more than equal. However in certain countries, this thoughts have become distorted. They (religious leaders in the countries) are making their own rules and restrictions that are at times questionable and to their own benefit. These people are the one's guilty of blemishing the Islamic religion. I will not identify those countries. If you were to pick up the Koran, in it, women are to be respected and honoured at all times and never told to cover up from head to toe. Women are expected to dress sensibly. Islam is a religion of peace and only sick individuals claiming to be in the name of Islam distort the religion. It's kinda sad to declare such statement without reading the Koran. It's like you picking up a book without reading it and just by observing the covers and declaring, "This book is bad! The printers did a bad job. You all should not read it!". Anyway, I hope the act of those individuals that corrupt the religion will not forever clouded your thoughts.

Islamics believe in dressing very modestly. It is a sign of respect for themselves and others, and an indication of their commitment to their religion. The women have a revered and well defined place in their society. They are meant to feel honored, loved, and protected. It is the man's job to support their wife economically and emotionally, and the woman's to provide the comforts of home life. It is a partnership as old as time, and can be very satisfying to both individuals. However, as in all societies, there are all types of individuals, some who can live well within their society's normal limits, and those who cannot. Abusive people exist everywhere, and are not limited to any one religion or country.

My guess would be that the men are so insecure with themselves that they feel they must totally control the women to have some feeling of self worth.We have the same thing here when men try to control their girlfriend or wife by not letting them have friends over or go anywhere by themselves.It's about control and self unworthiness.
