My cousins in West Virginia told me I had an accent the last time I visited. I was raised in California. People from a particular location don't hear the accent for that location. That's because it's normal to them.

My family & friends on the East Coast and in the South say that we don't have an accent but we do tend to speak faster.

I don't think we have one but my cousins from the east coast think that I do. I think that we are more surfer/snowboarder talk (accents) then anything, especially in southern california (that were I from).
