They may have just simply run out of space on the big round stone on which they carved their calendar.

its said that the world is going to end on december 21, 2012, becuase of an alignment of the stars. Since the mayans were fairly accurate when they predicted the creation of the planet, people believe that they also knew when it was going to end.

You have to remember that the Mayans totally disappeared. Now as to them all just dying out or they being taken away in flying disk now one seems to know for sure. And as far as anyone could tell they predicted that they all would be taken away in flying ships and vanish from the face of this earth............ So some theorists believe that at a certain period of time they all committed mass suicide And could that also coincide with that date in their time period and not some future date. No one really seems to know.............................................

that is when there is cosmic alignment with some of the solar system planets/sun with the center of the milky way galaxy> it means "rebirth" not "end"
