I have a Dwarf African frog in with my Beta. They actually interact and the frog helps keep the bowl clean.

I've had a few betta's before. Most the time that behaviour is natural.....unless his colouring looks a little unusual. I wouldn't suggest getting a bigger bowl....because they will not swim around as much as some people here seem to think...and plus that would mean more cleaning for you. Those kind of fish are just to look at...they are not that active. He will fight with any fish you put in there. Do not put a female betta with him either.

Well first you should get him out of a bowl and into a proper aquarium. Get one that is at least 5 gallons, preferably 10 gallons. Now put in a filter (such as a penguin mini) and a heater. Betta's are warm water fish and prefer water 75-80 degrees F.
They will not fight with other fish, although they can be a bit nippy at times. You can keep many other fish with Betta's as long as you are careful to not get fish that will nip the bettas long fins.
You absolutely cannot put another male or female betta in with them. He will fight with any male bettas and will harrass any females to try to get them to spawn with him.

Yes, bettas love having room to swim. I have thirteen of those first-class fish in tanks starting from 3g to 20g. All of them confirmed extra pastime and lifestyles while moved into the tanks after being in the ones terrible cups. Betta Safe fish incorporate Rasboras, Danios, Black Neon Tetras, Guppies(now not too fancy), Corys, generally Ghost Shrimp and different contemporary water shrimp. Also a pleasant Nerite snail for algae manage. All the fish will have to be saved in corporations of three-five or extra relying at the measurement of your tank. As continually watch your betta, a few are agressive to different fish, so much aren't agressive in any respect to different fish.

Do not buy a female betta for him. They will still fight, and 1 or both of them will end up dead. What size tank is he in, is there filtration and heating? How often do you change water? Bettas need clean water, and they need a steady temp of 76-82 degrees F in order to be happy and active. Tankmates may help, but first I need to know the answers to my questions.

Try getting him a large bowl-- they love to swim. Don't buy a female beat unless you plan to breed them and have an expert beat breeder you know. Female and males fight.
