Sounds like a spot to me. Very common in that area. A warm usually moist place is a breeding ground for bacteria. Shave the area and take a good look. Could well be an ingrowing hair causing irritation. But, if you are worried, go to the docs when you can.
In my experience, I have never seen cancer start off as a spot there.

Its a cyst, you can get them in the worst of ares but cancer lumps don't generally hurt where as cysts get sore so try not to touch it and make an appointment whenever possible to see your gp.........its xmas so don't be worrying, something deep down would tell you it was major!

Cancer very rarely hurts in the way you describe, so you'll probably be fine until after Xmas. Do make an appointment to see the doctor if its still there;

Doesn't sound like anything serious. As someone said, it sounds like an infection of a hair follicle, or a boil.
