I'm independant. I vote for the best candidate who fits my qualifications. Our two party system is a failure due to partisanship by both sides.

For a while I was greenparty then figured they never win. Lately I am no declaring a party which is independent. I vote for the person not the party. Being non-party shouldn't be mixed up with the party that is actually called the Independent Party. That is different from not claiming a party.

Why? Because growing up my parents were republicans, so I registered as one. But, they also taught me that choosing party was my personal choice. I do believe in one way with republicans in that I think the states need more independent power and the national politics should have less power. But that is about it for me. Beyond that I feel that the two main Parties are nuts. They waste time fighting each other.

I have sat among liberals and they are totally convinced they are in the right about everything. They sling mud at the concervatives.
Then I have sat at dinner with conservatives who have the same conversation but just on the opposite side. It is humorous actually. But, it wastes time when there is so much to do in our country.

I think that some Republicans play on the conservative Christian types of people. They avoid some issues by bringing up abortion and other things that distract from the REAL urgent issues.
The liberals will attack the conservatives on one small subject and totally avoid the real issue.

To me it is stupid. It is possible to have opposite opinions without focusing so much on fringe issues.

Our country doesn't have time for such nonsense!

I'm democratic. Why? because most of the time I disagree with what a republican stands for. I keep an open mind though and try to hear all sides.

Also what influences me is my family. My father is democratic and my mother I don't think really cares buy votes democrat.

I'm a Libertarian. I believe in self government, being accountable for your actions and not expecting any handouts unless you're fulfilling your obligations (child support, spousal support, etc)
