I know many atheists who aren't such because they don't believe there is a god. They simply don't care. If a god should be definitively proven to exist tomorrow, those kinds of atheists would just go on living their lives as they always have. After all, it's one thing to believe that a god exists, but quite another to heed that entity's desires, or even worship it.

On the other hand, since religious belief is inherently irrational (and I count myself among those who have a religious belief), I suspect even definitive proof of one type of god would not sway many believers in other gods. The best you might expect is a slight adaptation of their theology to include - and likely dismiss - your newly proven entity.

Which, if there are gods, may explain why they don't bother manifesting themselves. If I were in their position, I might figure that I had enough scorn heaped upon me already, without giving everyone concrete means and reasons for doing so!

Defend an answer to a question so silly? I dont think thats necessary.

You cant disprove God exists, the God of the gaps will just keep shrinking like a goblin when you open the cupboard and the light shines in.

You can't disprove God for the same reason you cant disprove I have a family of Manticores living in my attic.

I dont think Atheists would laugh if somehow you could theoretically disprove God. We'd just be glad all the poor religious people could grow up and give their lives some real meaning.

It's ok to be an atheist and it's ok to believe that god exists. God gives people faith and hope, especially in times when they are suffering. Personally I do not believe in God, based on scientific research, after having once believed in God for years of my life. I believe that I will live on in my children, my brothers children and my sisters children, and for today love the people around me with everything I have. I live a good, clean life and make the most of every day. I have accepted death and live life accordingly. We could all aspire to be christ-like, there would be nothing wrong with that, and yes Jesus was real. But he was not the only person tortured and killed trying to save us from what he believed in. He was not the only person who dedicated their life to healing and helping people. There were many others. We would all do well to take a page out of any of those peoples books. Much love, acceptance and peace.

If God is proved to exist this Atheist will laugh when all the people of SO MANY different religions that have fought and killed in his name have to explain why! If it is proved he does not exist why would I cry! I'll be too busy laughing at the horror on their faces when they realise there is no-one to blame but themselves and they've spent a life-time talking to a myth!

I doubt it will be proved in my life time but I'll know the truth by then!!

The existence of God cannot be proven - Kant showed this impirically nearly a hundred years ago.

Lemme get this straight, atheists such as myself don't care. It's why we're atheist. We aren't so pigheaded and dogmatic to even mix emotions with such a figment of imbecilic imagination.

My records indicate that One (1) athiest would cry.
6 (SIX) Faithful would shed tears. The second part of your question is the same just different.

If you believe there is a God, then his existence is already proven. If you dont believe then on Judgement day you may get a chance to believe and thus be saved.

If you believe there is a God yet you still sin, then you are doomed to die. Which means you will go back to the dust man was created from. Not tormented in hell... just die
