I think it is true... especially when people are insecure and afraid. People try to find others that are similar because that is what they are used to and understand. For example, my high school was multicultural but in the first year I notice that most nationalities naturally flock together - probably just because from the outside, it is something that they obviously have in common. But by year 2, people know each other and the cliques become separated not by nationality but by personality... Snobs together, nerds together, etc.

Birds of a feather flock together...I agree! People that are alike generally tend to stick together.

Cliques for example...how are they alike?

"you shall know someone by the company they keep" is what my old Quaker grandmother used to say. very similar. cons keep company with cons, artists keep company with artists, addicts and alcoholics keep company with addicts and alcoholics, those in recovery keep company with others in recovery, this rule applies to church goers (not many Pentacostals keep company with Catholics, Muslims tend to stay away from Jews) you don't see many uneducated people in the company of college professors...i would crap if my 15 year old granddaughter started keeping company with 20 somethings and 30 somethings, she is a teenager and she belongs in the company of her peers.
these are just the natural order of things...we do need to learn a bit of tolerance for others, though. and some compassion wouldn't hurt. just because someone is a bluejay and not a cardinal doesn't make them bad or wrong, it just makes them a bluejay

i think that this is in someways is true... because you need to have something in common with someone in order to be friends, but having one thing in common is good enough. i know my bestfriend and i are completely different.. she is outdoorsy and loves hiking and biking and i am more girly... but we still have so much fun together.

I think this sounds pretty cool. If you put it in a poem, you have rhymes withen lines (what's that called again) but still, you should start some poetry!!
