The reason I ask is because in my science class they said that in 2050, the average tempurature will rise 4 degrees ferinheit, In 2050, only 4 degrees!!!That sounds rediculous to me!!!!

Not everything you hear about global warming is true or accurate. There's possibly some hoax factor, too. I know this is the unpopular response right now, but I'll risk it and please allow me to explain a little.

I've been around a while. In the 60s the roar was all about 'overpopulation' much like global warming is the roar today. (Every generation has its issue). Back then, we just had to face this problem, else you were branded a cynical ostrich with its idiot head in the sand. We were simply breeding too much too fast "…and by the year XXXX there will be no food, no water and no room thanks to THIS IMPENDING HORRIBLE GLOBAL NIGHTMARE OF OVERPOPULATION...WE MUST ACT NOW!"

Well, I guess the world still has lots of room, and you never hear about the horrific overpopulation problem anymore. Now it's global warming.

And now as I reflect, I can't help but wonder if the overpopulation problem wasn't dilated to help distract us from the VietNam war which was raging at that time....a very unpopular war that many regard today as a huge mistake. And could it be possible that we were being massaged into believing that war might be a good thing, since all these people dying, after all, very scientifically helps to solve this horrific overpopulation problem in an rather immediate way. Specifically, could the overpopulation problem have simply been invented to help sanctify (or distract from) the war in 'Nam, on multiple levels?

And today we have another unpopular war...now it's in Iraq. And isn't it interesting that a new horrific, and again scientifically provable problem is upon us...global warming. And we 'must' divert our attention to this very important problem...

They're just thoughts. But it is important to think for yourself, look for motives, dig hard and deep to get at the truth.

4 degrees in 44 years is alot. If that were true we should be very concerned, but I think if I am not mistaken that the figure is more about 1 degree by 2050. Anyway, it's for future generations that we should worry. Our kids and grand kids will live in a rotten world if this keeps up. The question is, is this global warming really caused by people or just part of nature ? Some scientist are not so sure. There have been hot periods thousands of years ago before man could have been the cause. Its still being debated. I guess its better to be safe than sorry.

4 degrees might not sound like much, but if the average temperature at the poles goes from say 30 degrees F to 34 degrees F, then all the ice melts.

If the polar ice melts it'll dilute the oceans and the oceanic currents will stop moving. That will cause havoc with the global weather patterns.

You should watch Al Gore's movie "An Inconvenient Truth". It's quite an eye-opener.

worried or not does not really matter anymore. Global Warming was initiated by human civilization in the arly 1900's. The rise of the industrial revolution and the demand for business fuels the fire behind global warming. Some say that this is just the new "craze" of our generation, but if youpay attention to the weather in different regions and study the history, it is very clear that something is not right. You dont have to be worried about it, its not going to stop regardless. Feedback loops are already inplace and its only a matter of time, maybe not this lifetime but eventually. We should not worry our selves but we should definately not take this lightly either.

Trouble is environmentalists are liars!!! In particular the 'core' people are. The fanatics are just dupes. The same money behind the environmentalists is the same money that was behind the Communist sympathizers in the 60's. Hollywood, leftists, 'Pinko's'.
Their basic goal is exactly the same as the 'Com Symps'. They have a deep hatred of Western democratic freedoms, private property rights, free speech, progress, etc. It is with great glee the environmentalists cause delays in building needed houses, roads, dams, and other necessities of mankind on Earth. Any ******** theory that they can dream up to further their lunatic goals they will push.
Its not popular but global warming if it is true, logically, can only primarily be due to burning fuel above 30,000 ft. Since CO2 is heavier than air how else could it get up there?

It seems that global warming is irreversible, so why should I worry about it. I mean I'm not out purposely ruining the ozone layer. I live in Dallas, Texas, we do not have reliable mass transportaion; I have to drive everywhere I go. I'm also a stylist, I use hairspray everyday at work. The people of the futuer will have to learn to adapt to the damage we are doing today, just like we make accomodations for the damage that was done by our parents, grand-parents, and their parents.

Global warming is a serious concern. Sometimes I wonder if the earth is still warming after the ice age thaw. But whether man has anything to do with the process or not, small changes in global temperatures have a large effect on climate. Climate has a large effect on life as we know it.

i do no longer understand how enormous of a project worldwide warming is, i generally do no longer believe people who tell me that the worldwide is coming to an end and we are all going to die. even regardless of the indisputable fact that, whilst it is composed of your question, why no longer attempt to quit it? This sounds in basic terms like a controversy that i heard from the republicans approximately stem cells. "scientific use for stem cells continues to be 15 years away, that may not be able to help every person now, so we would desire to constantly no longer boost investment." i think that replaced into from Missouri. additionally, this capacity that Al Gore replaced into precise that worldwide warming is a project and brought about through guy. as adverse to the republican place that it flat out does not exist. Why no longer call George bush the bumpkin?

I believe that the main cause of the Accelerated Global Heating is in the great and increasing forest fires that are whipping to the planet in the last years.
My complete report is in: http://inicia.es/de/rlv/clim.htm

Is seems as if many people don't but I think eventually as the weather continues to change and affect the world, people will become more aware of it. Maybe they'll even start to contribute to the activities that may help to diminish such an unstoppable problem.
