Its 12.1' and all of the screen is distorted while the bottom half is completely distorted. I can't find a replacement screen anywhere online. The model of the laptop is Averatec 2300.

The laptop is top of the line. And I prefer the small size and weight. Also, I would like an estimate of the price for the repair.

You can replace just the screen of the laptop. Some places that don't do a lot of lower-level work would just order the whole "top lid", which has extra things that isn't broken, like hinges, bracket, outside case, inverter.

As to an estimate, you really need the model of the LCD screen, some of them used different models, might have different filters on it, etc etc, even within the same series. It also makes it easier to search on and find a price on, since it opens it up to all the other laptops out there that use that same part. It's a pain trying to look up what the part number *should be* based on model, and better to make sure *what it is*. (It's printed on the back of the LCD screen. 4ish screws to take faceplate off, 4ish screws to take the top lid off and then can see it)

As a rough estimate, $125-$200 depending on where you get it and how new or used it is. (Ebay might be a good start once you get a part#, if you want used/cheap)

You can get an exact estimate if you get that part number off the screen.

As for labor, if you were able to get that part number, you're able to install the new one just fine. Just 4 more screws :) Taking it in somewhere, you're going to pay for it. Probably $40-$140 just depending on how much they want to try to scalp ya.

The replacement of an LCD on a Labtop will cost about 10% more then just going out and buying a new one because they have to buy the screen then take the whole computer apart and disconect the old screen and attach the screen

It sure sounds like the screen is broke.

You can hook up an external screen to your laptop, but of course you'd be giving up the portability feature.

If the laptop is old and slow, it's probably better to buy a newer one that has a faster CPU, more memory, larger screen, and larger disk capacity.

Yes you can replace the screen. My dog sat on my laptop with the mouse in between the keys and screen. Ordered screen on Amazon for 28.00 and replaced it myself. You might want to connect your laptop to a desktop to make sure it's only the screen that's broken. Save yourself money and do it your self..

It is possible to replace that part, but the cost most likely will be prohibitive.

Maybe try punching it from the backside to fix it. lol Ok.. being the screen itself is damage you probably wont be able to fix it.
