In terms of fun, is a Wii going to be more fun than a Game Cube??

I have a gamecube and it got very boring.

My kids sure seem to think so. Two (out of three) have played a variety of games on a Wii, and they all rave about the experience. It's much more physically involving -- basically, if you like DDR, you'll love the Wii, it's more of the same. You use your whole body: if you play "Twilight Princess," you actually get to swing your arm and Link swings his sword on the screen; if you play bowling or tennis, you move your arm the same way you would in the real game.

Because Nintendo has such a catalog of popular games, I suspect we'll start to see new games coming out for the Wii very shortly (after "Twilight Princess," the one my kids are the most anxious about is the Wii version of "Super Smash Brothers," with several new characters, including Snake -- though it looks, as improbable as it may seem, as if Kirby once again will be the one to kick butt on all the other characters!) So just wait, I predict that within six months you'll be swinging your arm to make Mario bonk piranha plants with his hammer, or pumping your arms together to make him spray them with weed killer... :-)

So in our house, the only question is whether deliveries to the North Pole have been going as scheduled. We've stood in line two or three times -- most recently, my wife and daughter had spot #8 in line, at a store that got in six Wii systems for sale. Oh, the humanity! But basically, at this late a date, it's all up to the man, the connection, the Godfather himself -- Santa Claus. If the jolly old elf can't cough up Nintendo's newest come Christmas morning, there's gonna be three kids here for whom all the other gifts will turn to ashes in their mouths... or coal in their stockings, at least.

wii is has a lot better games (ex.legend of zelda:twilight princess) and the upcoming super smash bros. brawl
