My mum has recently been diagnosed with breast cancer. As a family, we are coping very well. It is a low grade cancer and it looks like the treatment will be successful. I am not sure how to tell people. It seems strange to smile and pretend that everything is fine when people ask me how I am, but I don't really want to tell people when I bump into them shopping etc. I want my friends and neighbours to know, but am not sure how to go about it (I can't really phone people and tell them, and an email would be very inappropriate). I would really appreciate any advice on this.

I would only tell those that are going to be supportive and positive. You don't need to hear anything from negative individuals at this time. And you just tell them in person in the calmest voice you can muster. And when they ask you if there is anything they can do, say yes "pray". And let them know that the family is up beat and dealing with this is as positive of an attitude as possible and all are very hopeful. Good luck, I am going to keep you and your family in my prayers. God bless****

For your mother and for your friends and neighbors you could easily break the news to them by simply asking them to say an extra prayer for her, to stop by and bring her some flowers and maybe a meal or the daily newspaper to give her best wishes because she was recently diagnosed with a mild case of breast cancer. Not only will this share with them the bad news but will get your Mom's spirits up. Let me know how it works out for you. God Bless you, I will say a special prayer for you and your family. have a Very Mery Christmas and A Happy New year. Claire

First things first Im super sorry that you have to go through something like this and I hope that everything goes good for you.

Just tell someone that you are close with and tell them to spread the word to only the people you tell them to tell. That way they find out and you dont have to feel wierd just telling people. But I had a friend who was in your situation and she didn't want anyone to know. But in the long run the moral support helped her stay strong and positive through the whole thing.

Good luck!

I would tell them when I see them or make a phone call: "hi, my mom is being treated for breast cancer and all looks well. Will you please remember her in prayer?" Godloveya for being a sensitive daughter.
