Well, if your not worried about the price then I would strongly suggest a mac, with virtual pc software, but if not then I would go for a compact entertainment notebook (similar to macs).

WINDOWS

Pros:
Take your entertainment even farther with the new vista coming out in january or just media center (Remote recommended)
Easy to fix
Upgrades are very little money

Cons:
A remote comes seperatly
Very complicated for professional use
Hard to virtual PC

Mac

Pros:
Comes with remote
Basic Computer (easy to operate)
FREE Web camera
Kick A** Software (Garage band, widgets etc.)

Cons:
Costly
Mice and keyboards break too often
poor battery life
Hard to find a "mac compatible" technician

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Depends on what you are doing and how urgent is it.
For students, a MacBook should be ideal as it both serve as a tool and a learning resource, they get to discover the alternate world where Windows dominate.

For creative artists, MacBook Pro, but hold on the purchase until adobe CS3 is out because it is having issues with current Universal framework.

For business users, a windows laptop, as the buiness world have no place for Macbooks unless it is a Pro version. For compatibility issues *softwares* and for professional reasons, as a Macbook is not considered "serious" enough by some people. With a windows laptop, it will save you the hassle to find alternative softwares to those currently and widely used on the windows platform.

Buy a mac book, you can run windows on them now anyway as a dual boot if you need to and os2 is far more secure for the internet etc. I use laptops running windows for work, a windows pc and a linux pc at home and I am buying a mac in the januaruy sales. Bear in mind as well that a new laptop running windows will be Vista which is untested, if its anywhere near as bad as XP was before service pack 2 was brought out you'll be in for a world of pain unless you fancy being microsofts field product developement team.

Macs are not good for gaming as most games are PC compatible (not to say there aren't mac games just less.) Macs also tend to be more expensive. However from what I've seen they are easier to use, have less security flaws and are apparantly beter for video editing.

These days macs can aso run XP so by going for a mac you can use both OSX and windows so in a way you get the best of both worlds.

Anything you can do on a PC you can also do on a Mac, you just need different software.

You could buy a high powered pc laptop and run masses of software - or you could spend a lot more money for the same performance and watch it fail sooner - was it 3 or 4 days before people were screaming that the white colouring was rubbing off the new crapbook?

And on the software front someone has already mentioned the creative suite - but wait until version 3 is out because the crapbook doesnt run it too well - hmmm last time i looked crapple owned a chunk of Adobe, you think they could come up with something that works properly?

Thats the rub with the crapintosh, crapple ask you to 'think different' thats just a clever marketing ploy to get you to feel superior because you paid over the odds for a pile of junk that looks good but will break and doesnt actually do what its meant to properly.

Get a pc mate and save yourself some cash and a lot of nobache.

I would suggest a Windows laptop (Dell's are really great), because Windows is much more easier to use, and JUST ABOUT ALL programs are windows friendly, and not mac friendly. NNot much is compatiable with the mac operating system!

you purely purchase a Mac by using utility (OSX). while you are going to easily installation abode windows on it, then purely get a working laptop or laptop, because Macs are extremely overpriced for the quantity of ability you get. execs: Intuitive consumer interface high quality utility Few wild viruses advantageous aesthetic layout Cons: Overpriced and underpowered won't be able to run abode windows utility utility decision is constrained
