Injured man wins damages for sex overdrive

Tue Dec 19, 11:17 AM ET

A devout Christian who said an accident at work boosted his libido and wrecked his marriage as he turned to prostitutes and pornography was awarded more than 3 million pounds ($5.89 million) in damages Tuesday.

Stephen Tame, 29, from Suffolk, suffered severe head injuries in a fall, transforming him from a loyal newlywed into a "disinhibited" character who had two affairs.

He was in a coma for two months after falling from a gantry while working at a bicycle warehouse shortly after his marriage in January 2002. Doctors said it was a miracle he survived.

Awarding him 3.1 million pounds in compensation at London's High Court, Judge Michael Harris said: "His life and the life of his young wife were shattered."

His former employer, Professional Cycle Marketing, of Essex, had argued through their lawyers that his injuries were not as bad as suggested in court.

Good question!

A short news account of a personal injury lawsuit can be deceptive. After two months in a coma, the plaintiff most likely has severe brain injuries that impair his ability to make a living as well his ability to be a good husband and companion. I would guess that he looks healthy and strong but that he has behavior and perhaps cognitive problems that affect his impulse control. To prove his injury, he has to show these behavioral changes. The employer most likely was very negligent about the scaffolding. Of course the lawyers for the company argued that the worker's injuries were not that bad! The news story has to end on a dramatic note, but the legal end to the story is that the judge found that the plaintiff was extremely disabled as a result of the employer's negligence.

I found an article with more facts. Tame, (what an ironic name!) is described as impatient, aggressive and in need of supervision, even at home. Once his wife leaves, which will be soon, he is more likely a candidate for an institution than a job.

This is weird. I knew a guy that was shot in the groin in Vietnam and had a permanent erections as a result of the injury.

He constantly struggled with "hide it" issues at work with constant mocking and was hassled by the cops for being a pervert.

Unless I had actually seen and known the problems associated with this I would think Frivolous Law Suit. But knowing this Vietnam Vet I would say it is a real big problem.

Go big Red Go

Frivolous. I'm surprised that it's happening in England as well as America.

That's a good example of where Democracy doesn't work.

It sounds like a frivolous lawsuit, the sort that would be pressed by someone who only pretends to be a devout Christian, who blames others for his transgressions.

John Edwards made his millions with frivolous lawsuits.
He was ingenious.
And us and our children and grandchildren will pay for his millions, all our lives.
(If you don't mind getting a little sick to your stomach, check out how John Edwards made his millions.)

I hope Hillary stomps that hypocrite in the ground. Go Hillary.

A law suit is always frivolous until something happens to you and you need to go to court then it is not so frivolous

It will be thrown out of court, he was doing all of these things before, he was just smarter before he hit his head and better able to hide these things from his wife.
