i found what i think is a really neat story about how this guy averages out how many saturdays the average person has in their lifetime. He did this when he was 65 & by averages figured he had about 1000 saturdays left in his life. So he buys 1000 marbles & each saturday gets rid of one marble. He said it sure made him set his priorities straight watching as the marbles got fewer and fewer. It really touched me. Anyway you get the gist.
I was thinking of buying just a couple marbles for each person that will be at my house this Christmas & printing the full story out & saying something along the lines of here's to helping you get started on your Saturdays. Or something like that anyway - will have to think of something.
Wrapping it up and putting them under the tree for everyone. But not saying who it is from. This will be in addition to thier regular gifts.
Good idea or too corny?
Plus if you think it is good - do i have them open marbles or story first?

This is a great idea. You may have people who are looking to change something in their lives and this would be a neat way to start it. Also it may make people become more aware of everything going on around them. I think this is great. I would do them together. Put the paper around the marbles before you wrap them or how ever you set it up. That way they can read the story and connect the marbles to it right away.

I think its a cute idea. You could put a few marbles in a small jar with the story inside and then wrap them up.

You should do the story first or else they would be suprised by the fact that you gave them marbles. They wouldn't know what to do or what to expect. And I think that it's a great idea and that it helps them to live their lives to the fullest.

that's gorgeous, that's not corny. And that is a large element for him if he's mostly shy, so that you need to commend him for that. Your superb guy chum is basically jealous that's popular, beware although in a lengthy time period you may finally end up with him.

love it!! ppl might begin to recall what christmas is actually about, and that there's more to life than getting their kids into the nfl or driving a mercedes sports, and wondering how to afford their mortgages. open marbles first, that way they will be wondering what the heck this is all about, then they can read and find out.

Do it. That seems like a cool idea, especially if you are doing it for a lot of freinds.

well, i guess they could open the story first, but if you want it to be anonymous, then...you wouldn't be able to tell them :p verrrry cute idea though, and very thoughtful, i love it!
