I have friends I want to buy presents for. should I wait until after christmas to buy them one? I want to buy my family something first!

It's up to you. Just do as what you want. If you can give them a real surprise, then no matter before or after the Christmas.

i hate to say this but u should have started saving ur money much, much earlier and then u could have gotten everyone something for xmas. ur family should come 1st.
starting with ur 1st paycheck next year, put away 5 or 10 dollars each week and then u will have ur xmas money for next year.
