I am from Pennsylvania and I know a lot of people who are going to PSU. But based on my first visits to each campus, I seem to like OSU more. I like the fact that OSU is close to a large city. I'm not sure what to do based on academic rankings. Penn State is ranked higher overall, but Ohio State is ranked higher in my intended major (Political Science). Also, I'm from Philadelphia so Penn State is much closer to home. But the weather in Columbus, Ohio is more similiar to what I am used to.

Both are good schools. I was accepted at PSU and at OSU. I am a PA resident. The tuition and room & board costs at PSU were less than half the costs at OSU. For me, that was the deciding factor.
I enjoyed my time at PSU. There was always something, besides classes and studying, going on somewhere on campus. On occassion, the winter weather can get real nasty in State College, however. But there is a nearby ski resort.

The difference between OSU and PSU are relativily the same. The schools are both great, your education will be great, and both campus are a hell of alot of fun to attend. The reality is when your four years are up do you really want to have left over a ridiculously high loan debt/bill or not. The reality is PSU is the better call for you - but something tells me there are other considerations that may be coming into play here. Just understand neither school is the University of Michigan so get over it and go to PSU (ok kidding on this part). You wont regret ever making the decision of getting a great education for a lower price.

Good Luck!!!

Ohio State seems big and scary to me. Not that Penn State is much smaller. I went to Pitt for a year.

If I lived in Pennsylvania, I would favor Penn State because of the in-state cost of tuition vs. the out-of-state. To be honest, I don't know jack about Ohio State besides it's a big school and I follow college football. I don't know anything about Ohio and how cultures differ there.

Penn State wins that matchup, but Wisconsin takes the Big 10.

Flip a coin. Heads is Penn State, tails is Ohio State. I know this sounds stupid and crazy to base one of your most important decisions off of chance but think about this. If you are disappointed with what the coin flip said, you kind of have your answer don't you? Same if you are excited. The coin flip is a simple way to unclutter your mind and decide what you really want.

It sounds like you would like Ohio State more, and its not that far away from where you live. I would say Ohio State, but it really should be based on where you feel the most comfortable, and will have the most fun.

Go to OSU, since it is ranked higher in your major and you seem to like the school better.

Go wherever you will feel more comfortable - also, reach out a bit and don't go to school with everyone you know. So I'd say Ohio.

It's 100% up you and what you think will be best for you but I prefer Penn State over Ohio State.

Penn State is a better university and has a much better alumni network (these things matter when its time to get a job or go to graduate school) the winters in state college are terrable,,.
