We don't know about Romeo (he's probably just a few years older than Juliet), but earlier in the play (the whole play takes place in, oh, probably a week or two) the Nurse and Lady Capulet discuss Juliet's age:

NURSE: How long is it now To Lammas-tide?
LADY CAPULET: A fortnight and odd days.
NURSE: Even or odd, of all days in the year,
Come Lammas-eve at night shall she be fourteen.

Since a fortnight is two weeks, we know that Juliet will be fourteen in a little over two weeks. A little later on, Juliet's mother states, "I was your mother much upon these years", and argues that it was common for girls of 13 to be married AND already mothers. So if you think of it, Lady Capulet is probably only 25 or 26 and still quite a catch.

I imagine people who say Juliet was 18 are only saying so to make the whole love, marriage, suicide thing a little more digestable. But Juliet was definitely 13 (or maybe, JUST barely celebrating her 14th birthday by the time she kicked the bucket). Romeo COULD possibly be 18, however.

That's probably more than you needed to know, but there it is.

You know, checking all the sources because I doubted my recollection, there is no specific age mentioned. Everyone has guessed at their proximate ages in interpreting the play. But a more common perception is that Juliet was 15 and Romeo 17.

juliet had just turned fourteen. in the begining of the play they're discussing her getting married,. And how she wasnt even fourteen yet. But her birthday was on the night of the party- when she and romeo meet. I think Romeo was fifteen or sixteen.

hope this was of some help.
