World War II in the Pacific: An Encyclopedia (Military History of the United States) . It's a really big, thorough book by
S. Sandler. Amazon can get it. Also there is a book about the Patrol Craft. The link below can get you there. And besides those 2, if you google "books", then pick google book search, and type in world war two pacific - you get hundreds more to pick from. Good Luck. My Dad served in the Pacific then and we often get him books about it. He really loves looking through them.

He might be interested in Death March: The Survivors of Bataan by Donald Knox, or you could go to amazon.com and type in Bataan into the search field. There are a number of books on this subject. I have a particular interest in this topic because my grandfather survived the march and was subsequently a prisoner of war for several years.

Perhaps King Rat by James Clavell would be of interest to him. It is about British and American POWs held by the Japanese.

barnes and noble's help and border's help: they don't always have the answer...however your librarian at the library does have the answer, that person is paid to have the answer, that person has a computer that is wired to have the answer, (unlike these ones we use, they have magic 'booksmart' computers) and you can find the selection there and then order it from the bookstore
