I was not abusive, she had the affair, we had had a good life together. Her child loves me and calls me all the time even though I am living out of state now. Why would she intentionally say things she knows hurt me when she has no reason to.

she has no character, doesn't have compassion in her, they say hurtful things cause they don't care if they hurt u, it is because of something inside them, they say things they don't have to, maybe she felt if she said those hurtful things u would just give up and move on, without a word, without confronting her any farther.sometimes people don't even know they hurt us, as their belief system and the way they do things is different. she just showed who she is, and what she is made of. often times people have no reason to hurt us, or share info with us that is more than we really needed to know.

Obviously she wants her pound of flesh. She does not have to have good reason, just something to justify the action. Just knowing it pushes your button is enough. Just because it meet your definition of a good life does not mean it comes close to meeting her definition of a good life. Obviously your relationship had problems or she would not have had an affair (It was her choice but she is making it your problem) Some people spend more time trying to shift the blame than to address the problem. Consider yourself lucky that you don't have to be dealing with it.

she might feel that you two were always best off as friends and now as two people not together anymore and the situation isnt so ugly, she feels like she can communicate with you as a friend and gab about anything to you.
or maybe she is trying to get some kind of reaction back from you to let her know that youre upset, sad or hurt, etc.
if you dont feel comfortable about talking about it, then let her know.
be honest. be yourself.

Sounds like she is feeling guilty that she destroyed the marriage and is somehow trying to put the blame on you, suggesting you drove her to have an affair. You're doing the right thing getting out.

Maybe she thinks you didn't love her enough to forgive her or something equally stupid. Some people think they are not worthy of love so they do everything in their power prove they aren't worth love. You could always screw with her head and say "I hope you find the love and happiness I couldn't give you".

Simple. Because she is probably one who only cares about themselves, what they like, what they think, wants, approve of, etc. She doesnt mind hurting people. She only worries about if she herself hurts. Could be wrong, but the above probably hits pretty close to the heart of it.

Maybe she's testing if you are still hurt or you forgave her or you don't care anymore. Just to hear your reaction. Many she feels guilty, who knows. She's obviously fixated on it. It's on her mind all the time, that's why she talks about it.
