when on something like the twilight zone when they drop you down i feel like i've left myself up, why?

Because the rate of acceleration of the ride differs from the rate of acceleration of your body. There is a point after the ride begins to move and you are still stopped. That's what makes you feel weightless.

It's like you're a baseball that's thrown up into the air, and just before it comes down, it stops and is weightless (no gravity). Or jumping up and down -- the point between up and down -- that's the state you're in when you feel like you're lifting out of your seat. The same happens when you ride an elevator. If your on an elevator and it falls, you'll float like there's no gravity. You may actually cling to the ceiling for a moment.
