How many of you are War Strategists ? Hmmmm!!

Obviously you know where I'm going with this and I think it's a LEGITIMATE question !!
Since when do you have access to 'secret' or 'inside' info ? Since when are you QUALIFIED to GRADE our Military's Success or failure ? And since when are you in a position to even know what the hell is going on behind the scenes ?

Yet sooo many of you are 'oh so quick to JUDGE' !!!
As an experienced military veteran, and a former holder of a 'Top Secret' clearance. . .. .. . .I can tell you that many, many things are going on behind the scenes as always and neither you nor I have any idea of what they are !!

Hmmmm

I to Have attended the Monterrey Navel Center for Strategic Studies. Have a active Secret clearance and as a decorated combat Veteran of 26 counter insurgent apportions feel I have a slight edge on experience over the average 8th graded on this forum.

With this background I can say the Iraq war is jacked up. Firing the one strategists and turning it over to the Generals should make everything better.

Well I do .Experience in the telecommunications industry has its advantages . Especially the ability to sample phone conversations via a satellite link that took some time to narrow down the frequency used by many of the cellular communications devices used by pentagon and white house officials .This range covers a narrow band and I can only assume that it is no coincidence that the providers of these devices to government personnel received shipments so similar making it easy for say the another agency to monitor those calls .
Imagine if you knew that everything you said almost was able to be heard .Would you call your mistress or yell at your kids over the phone .Get your *** home now or when you get here i will be tearing a piece of that *** lose .Or you need to come home immediately or else .
Strange how those who know they are or can be monitored select a different tact over the phone .
General or not ,West Point or not ,civil war re-enactors have a good grasp of battle field tactics .
Also it is plain to see from media reports the conditions in Iraq .
Burned out cars and buildings in ruin with little new construction .
The only work done was that of base building And securing the Government housing for the leaders who did not flee to Saudi Arabia to phone in running the government .

No, I'm not a General. And neither are you judging from your answer. Given that you formerly held clearance you are in no way able to judge either. The only tools at our disposal is the information given to us by people with the inside track. The people grading the Military are people with clearance. The people on the Senate Armed Services Committee, The Senate Intelligence Committee, the retired Generals that served in Iraq and Afghanistan and the President. These are all people in the know and they have all said Iraq is not going well. All of them including Bush.

Since we are supposed to trust our president, isn't it safe to say we should also trust him when he says things are going badly?

True, but what about all of the recently retired generals who still have close contacts in the military, who say that the war in Iraq cannot be won and that escalation (a surge of troops) is not the answer. Colin Powell is the latest.

"Powell Delivers A Coup De Grace On Iraq"
"The ex-Secretary of State's message left little room for doubt: "We're not winning, we are losing". NBC Nightly News said "usually a good soldier doesn't complain in public," but Powell "offered a damning assessment" of his old boss' policy in Iraq. ABC World News says Powell also gave a "blunt assessment of the plan to send thousands more troops into Iraq: It will not work." USA Today says Powell said the army "is about broken" and "could not support sending a significant increase" of soldiers to Iraq. "

Were you, now?

What I can tell you is that GEN Eric Shinseki, former CSA, was was roundly chastised by Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz after his testimony before the Senate Armed Services Committee. Wolfowitz went in front of the committee the next day to claim that Shinseki didn't know what he was talking about.

Guess what? Shinseki was right!

So when you say there's something going on behind the scenes, I expect you're right. It's partisan politics and an ideological war against anyone not following lock-step behind them.

I'll put my experience against yours any day. I can tell from your question that you don't possess the mental agility to maneuver yourself out of a motor pool.

I agree... but there have been many who know the information that have been very critical... as someone already mentioned powell...

is rummy or Bush generals? no... maybe they should have been listening a little closer to the generals? I think if they would have... we would be in a much different situation right now...

i too am a vet and had the top secret clearance big deal what we consider top secret the government considers a joke there are clearances way above top secret....anyway my point here is that any general who was worth his weight was either kicked out or retired because of bushs policies when it came to this war the millitary men who are his aids now are nothing but yes men. who owe their allegence to bush because he gave them their rank .

No one is claiming to have inside or secret information.

No one is boasting about their military credentials other than you.

You sound like a goober.

Good point. If we had let the military handle Viet Nam I can tell you the war would have ended quite differently
