I have a Toshiba laptop and when I went to boot up this afternoon the screen stayed black.?

The Toshiba logo came on and after the Windows logo came on and then it went black and stayed that way. I have rebooted it twice. The sounds came on just like it was turning on but the screen is black.

Did you try "Booting" in "Safe Mode".?

For this, as soon as you switch on, and as the Toshiba logo gets ready to appear, in that short time span hit the F8 Key (the key may different for different makes in which case you should try pressing quickly one by one F1, F2.....and on) till the Black screen comes with the Alternatives

"Start Windows Normal Mode" or
"Safe Mode"

Select "Safe Mode" and find what is happening.
