I have done this... on the phone with 911, asking them if I should move the unconscious person behind the wheel. They danced around the question 'til I yelled at them. Fortunately, my friend grabbed a fire extinguisher from the apartment complex next to us and put out the engine fire.

I am beginning to think that the number of people that have had their metal tested in this country (U.S.). I mean in the overall sense. I had my share of life threatening events in Iraq and at home. Having had these experiences I still faltered in a stressful event at the beginning of this year. I witnessed a car hit a motorcycle....etc. long story. I eventually went running into the street in an attempt to help. I believe that I was a slight benefit, but I cannot be sure. I do know this. I couldn't have just stood there and watched forever. Hesitation is normal sometimes, but it is never acceptable to not act. I would charge forward in an attempt to save another. You never know who you are saving....you might even be saving you.

My mind and heart would say "get them out!!" However, the fear at the time might over ride my spirit and principals that want to do the heroic thing and I might wind up just screaming hysterically and being of no use! I pray that would not be the case and that I would charge to the rescue not taking time to think and scare myself wittless.

Yes, what if it doesn't blow? And if there were 2 people, save children then women then guys then elderly. If it's two of any category, save the least hurt or the safest bet for yourself first. But DON'T JUST STAND THERE AND WATCH THEM DIE-or let them watch you not do anything.

absolutely. no questions asked.

a hero isn't someone who plans to be a hero, it's someone who is in the right place at the right time, and does the right thing.
