as far as etiquette goes, yes, you should. it would be a nice thing for you to do if you appreciate him. carriers cannot accept cash or gifts over 20 dollars, so keep that in mind. also, you are not obligated to, it's entirely your decision!

There is nothing wrong with leaving the mailman some chocolates or something in your mailbox. My dad was a mailman and got candies every year. Even a fresh apple pie once!

Show him a little leg and maybe some cleavage.

I do this to my mailman and guess what?? Every day he brings me mail!! It's amazing how a little kindness goes a long way.

funny you should ask. I heard on talk radio just the other day that in the state of Alabama you can't give your mail carrier any money, it is considered trying to bribe a public worker. I laughed at that so I will get her a gift card to a fast food place and she can eat her bribe.

I suggest giving him/her a small gift for the holidays. An ornament, box of homemade cookies/treats, or at the very least a holiday card. I make it a point to try to thank anyone who provides me regular service (my hairdresser, nail lady, etc). It's just a nice gesture during the holidays.

We usually give ours a card with a $10 gift card to a local restaurant.

Postal workers aren't allowed to accept cash, so either homebaked goods, small gifts, or gift cards would be a nice gesture =)
