No my parents never tried to get me to run away from home for any reason. For a parent to ask this is extremely harsh and bad parenting unless they were joking with you.

No, but the day I turned 18, my dad said I had 6 months to get out and find a place of my own...and he meant it. My brother mooched off them all their lives, and he wasn't about to have another one doing it. Don't blame him. It was the best thing anyone's ever done for me. Got me out and moving.

when I was 16 my mom told me not to come home for a weekend and to go have fun! She said I acted like a old person or something like that

no they never say it in those terms, but they said enough things in other words that made me feel as if they would be happy if I left
