It was a gathering place for certain sacred celebrations that had to do with the equinoxes, solstices, full moons, and eclipses, involving Astrological Astral Projection of the celebrants to interact with greater-than-Earthly 'powers' (Gods and Goddesses) at these times, bringing blessings of fertility and power upon the people and upon the lands.

no one knows and not in any respect will. Guessing is pointless. that's particularly helpful to observe 'The Wickerman' as they used a mockup of Stonehenge as a fertility ceremony. youthful bare females would leap by a hearth in hopes of having impregnated through the 'old Gods' Makes approximately as lots experience as the rest. s_e_s

Probably for some system of telling time. Look at it, it looks like a sun dial. Either that or it was a meeting center for some ancient community thousands of years ago, or, its just a freak of nature and some rocks fell from the sky.

If you have ever looked at pictures of stonhenge
at different times of the year the sunlight falls thru it differently everytime. If I had to make an educated guess I would say its a calendar. or some sort of time telling device.

It was built as an astronomical clock.
It may have later been used by the Druids, but it was built in the Monolithic Era, not by the Druids.

i say english typ Pagan's used it for rituals. if people were still allowed to go up to it i sure would use it for that. i mean it does look an afull lot like all the Pagan stone circles in Ireland and the area. so i say it was a Pagan circle.

I think it's a calendar or clock of some sort.

I am more interested in how in the world it was erected, vs. what it was used for!

Amazing structure!
