Good question. Doctor Phil recently told a guest that he needed to fall in love with himself. Strange phrasing. The idea was that if you project "I'm not okay", then others will take your word for it since you know more about yourself than they do. To look in the mirror and love what you see like you would look at your lover and love what you see...it seems rational enough.

falling in love with yourself is not the starting point. serving and caring about others is. once you see that your behavior is characterized by goodness, then you find that you have a reason to love yourself. the behavior, the choice to serve and care for others comes first.

In my case I love to give, I give and I feel better about myself seeing others happy, therefore it makes me happy. I really care about myself that I am able to care for others and their happiness.

You know you love yourself when you are freely able to give without the feelings of despair when you don't receive a thank you in return, you gave because it made you happy. You keep trying this to continuously attempting an effort to make yourself happy.

What makes you happy? Do it then!!!!
