Okay so this is sorta a loo-pole...but if your dog is taken to the pound they make you get them fixed and you pay like $60.00 for a voucher and go to a vet and they do the surgery.
But if you just go and get you dog fixed at the vet, it's almost $200.00! Has anyone done this? What do you think?

okay .... i mean if you already have a dog and you need to get him/her fixed...not adopting a pet. Basically having someone take your dog to the pound and pay 60.00 and not 200.00! sounds good to me!

I knew someone that their dog ran out the back yard and they couldn't find her..so after a couple hours she called the vet and her dog was there. They told her she had to get her dog fixed when she went to pick her up, but she already was, so that didn't matter. See what I am saying....

At least in my area, almost all our shelters/pounds will provide low cost spay/neuters. All you have to do is ask.

Ok your Question is a little confusing. But what I think that your asking is why is it when you adopt an animal you only have to pay 60 dallors for everything. But when you take it to the vet and have to get it fixed it cost 200.00. That would be because the vet that did the surgary or is going to do the surgery on the dog from the pound donated his or her time to that rescue! So the pound doesn't have to pay for it or just only has to pay for a small portion. Since most pounds barely have the money to feed the animals that they get in.

Here in Miami,fl if you take your dog to get it fixed at the humane society it comes out pretty cheap. Even free if you have medicare(rumors). The catch is that the humane society is not very sanitary in my opinion. I've taken my dogs for a checkup and it's disgusting. To get your pet fixed I've heard that they lay a bunch of dogs together and go from one dog to the other using the same scalpels, needles, and other equipment. Some dogs end up having other problems because of the surgery. I'd rather pay the $200 knowing that my dog is going to be in a sanitary place.

yes, if you adopt an animal from the humane society or spca one of the stipulations is that you have your animal spade or neutered and they give you a voucher so that you get a discount, and you go to a participating vet. Or if you just go to your own vet and pay more thats okay to ..it's just your preference...but they all do the same thing.

i do beleave the that the price duffers on where you live. to "fix" a male dog here in my area of iowa is between $30-$75, a female "fix" runs around $10-$15 more. it also would have to depend on wither or not your area has manidtory "fixing" or not. as for one thing if i was a breeder and my top dog got out/ was set loose and i was looking for him, find him at the vet and they say i have to "fix him"? a lot of your good stud/brood dogs are with thousands of dollars.

Find out what the pound you got her from reccomends - sometimes they contract with a spay/neuter clinic to have the surgeries done at the cost of the voucher.

Call the pound and see if they will fix your dog for you! I Live in seattle and the pound here will fix pets for people at a lower cost!

I think the 60 dollar voucher only helps pay for part of the surgery not the whole thing. I could be wrong though.

I knew I could afford my dog when I bought it so I didn't go about looking for loopholes to be honest. Plus it sounds like a waste of time and/or gas money.
