tradition? I ask my question this way because I find it difficult to remember that Christmas isn't just about buying gifts, going to parties, and decorating the tree, it's about remembering the birth of the One who gave us the ultimate gift.

I really enjoy having lots of family over on Christmas Eve and Day and everyone in the kitchen taking turns making yummy eats. Playing games after opening gifts and just getting to spend time with family.
But I also think we (my family) should do more to remember Christ at Christmas instead of thinking of it as a winter family reunion.

My favorite tradition is snuggling in front of the tree with my husband, listening to Elvis's Blue Christmas while we open presents. My favorite religious tradition - hm, I have a couple. The first is Christmas eve services - we go every year. This year we're going to go to Midnight Mass at a cathedral with my mom, even though we're not Catholic. My other favorite is watching my kids in their annual Sunday School Christmas program. It's just adorable.

I love giving gifts, and especially watching the youngsters when they open the gifts. There's nothing like picking out the perfect gift for a child and seeing their face light up when they open it. I also like to surprise my husband with a gift he didn't even know I was getting for him, leaving it under his pillow or somewhere where he doesn't expect it and mark it "from Santa." I don't have any children yet, but even with giving to my neices and other children in the family, I enjoy watching them open their gifts.

Also, my city has a lighted Christmas parade every year that still makes me feel like a little kid, We used to drive around each Christmas with the whole family piled into the car to look at Christmas lights - with the parade, it's as though the Christmas lights come to us!

I'm not really religious, so I guess as far as "religious" traditions, I just enjoy the caring sense of Christmas and the way peoploe seem to be friendlier and more open at this time of year.

i liek being home for christmas. like sleeping in my own bed on christmas eve. it sounds stupid, but if you are staying at someone else's house, wouldn't it seem a little rude when you're caught sneaking cookies? and running around the house in the middle of the night.....thats fun. i'm like too old to still get excited but my brother and i are stil lcounting down the days:P

Every year me and my family would all pile into the car and drive around the neighbourhood looking for things like blue lights on people's houses. We would then hook up a hose from the exhaust to the dyer vent, fill the house with smoke and pummel the occupants with clubs as they came running out.
