Yes. Antivirus programs use very virus-like techniques to take control of your computer and dictate what is allowed and what is not. As a result, if two are installed you are probably going to have problems, because each one could detect the normal operation of the other as virus-like and complain about it.

It generally isn't a good idea as alot of anti virus programs will conflict with other. In fact some will not install if there is another already installed.

Remember, as well as anti virus, you also need spyware protection and a firewall.

They can and will. You should never have to virus programs running on the same computer. They'll both try to take control of various functions.
