Unfortunately, Israel is not a signatory of the Ottawa Treaty banning landmines. For that matter neither is the United States.
I am not against the use of anti-personnel devices during time of war (a real war not the fake pseudo-war that the US and Israel have now), but in this day and age only time based self-destructing landmines should be used, with countries being responsible for clearing out landmines at the end of a given conflict having the self destruct mechanism serve only as a backup for mines missed during the clean up period.

Why do terrorist-loving, dictator-hugging bozos like you ask about Israel and land mines instead of Hamas and suicide bombs? No Hamas, no Islamic Jihad, no Hizbollah, no Arab determination to wipe Israel off the map--THEN there would be no land mines. Israel would gladly live in peace right this minute--the Palestinians don't want peace, they want Israel gone. The terrorism and invasions against Israel come first--Israel responds because it has to defend itself!!

Logistically? In any case where you have very few troops and too much area to defend/patrol, they are the cheapest, most effective weapons.
