Hypothetically speaking of course...i.e. would you be happy, scared, excited, angry... etc?

I'm not sure if I would feel scared or relieved.
First let me tell you that I already know for a fact that aliens exist, and I know for a fact that the government knows they exist.
I would feel scared because the governement finally decided to reveal their existance. This would likely be in direct defiance of the aliens who have understanding and power beyond our imagination, but are only here to study us the way our scientists study frogs to figure out how humans work... To perform the studies of cultural development and the like it is neccessary that they don't influence the outcome by revealing the true possibilities of civilization and technology.
I would feel relieved, however, if the reason that the aliens' existance was revieled was that the aliens had had enough of the corruption of Earths powerful people brutalizing the planet and their fellow humans. And that the aliens were ready to take control of the experiment to create the ideal society.
