I just wanted to ask a general question about how I should start to dress. I have just begun college, and up until recently I have been recycling the same jeans and t-shirts over and over every day of my life. I don't understand brand names, what sneakers or shoes go with what, etc. because I've never taken notice to it before. I just wanted a few tips to help me get started. To give you an idea of what I look like, I am 6'2" 180lbs and I have short, semi-spiked light-brown hair. My friend said that I remind him of Andy Roddick, so I found out who that was, and I'd think that's a pretty close description of what I kind of look like as a good visual. I also kind of understand that certain styles of dressing will be best suited to certain types of people, so with the above description of me, I was wondering if somebody more experienced with all of this could point me in the right direction to get started in figuring out how to dress a little better. Thanks alot for your help!

It really depends on the impression you want to make a Rugby shirt and nice slacks usually will get you noticed as will a nice sweater and jeans. Clean and simple is the best way to start look at magazines and see if there is a style you like mimic but don't go all copy cat that is a big no-no. Stick to your budget and clothes that fit you well will last longer. You can always go to the men's department at a major store tell the clerk your budget and get a few makeover tips - some of those clerks are amazing. Good Luck!

umm...I don't know where you go to school, but I am a currently a senior (going on full 5th year next year)and I am still wearing the same jeans and t-shirts from high school. Clothes are too expensive, brand names even more so.
Worrying about how you dress or what you look like is more of a high school thing than a college thing. You can always tell the freshman from the upperclassmen. Freshman come to class with perfect hair and makeup- upperclassmen sometimes show up in the clothes from last night, pjs, or their shirts are stained/clothes ripped because their parents stopped buying them clothes a couple years ago.
I think your question may be more of how to dress more mature. You could always go with the classic semi baggy jeans (few holes) and a nice polo type shirt- that is about as dressed up as any guy I know gets.
If you dress up to go out to the bar- expect to get carded. I went in normal clothes and never got carded (until after I was 21, go figure). The one thing that sets freshman apart from upperclassmen is how they handle situations and act, not how they dress.
Hope this helped a bit. I do not know what brought on this question, but just relax and have fun!

Well, it depends on how much you have to spend. I go to California State University, Fullerton. Out here everyone wears Diesel jeans or Sevens. Puma or asic sneakers and a dirty looking t-shirt. I think the best place to go shop on a budget is Nordstroms Rack. Check it out.

Hahahaha!!!! i'm indian, so i realised you've been a male, yet wheni i study the "i'm a immediately guy" element, it were given me cracking up! anyhow, try communicate (severe tops are the communicate that are a 2-3 inches above your ankle), and get large image tees. you may also try wearing a tee-blouse over a collared blouse, yet make confident its not too warm outdoors or you'll melt.
