well, call me a geek, but what i do w/ my library is build playlists that tell stories. mostly, they are parodies of a character, like the song says something about what the character is feeling..... a good love song (there r 2 many 2 count) well, i don't really know of any songs that explain love..... "Heaven is Here" by Dashboard confessional, or maybe "Hands Down" is the most modern, and hih is eloquent, but i HATE the music, and the vocals suck...... um, a good example of like Faramir to Eown love is Big Machine by Goo Goo Dolls...... i know i know more, but cn't think of any......

my favorite is "what is love?" by mars ill.
it approaches love from the standpoint of saying what love is not.
in the words of manchild from mars ill:
"Love. What is it? A solid or a liquid?
The question resonates from inner space to outer limits
Outer space to inner city dwellers timid, not committed
Love just isn't built on child support and weekend visits
You kill it like strychnine when you treat it like a cancer
You don't feel it so you spend time seek pleasure, not the answer
In clubs peeping dancers in a jacked-up type of manner
Stuffing g-strings with dollars that should buy your baby's Pampers
Love's not waking up with different women every morning
Love's not beating her down at nine months, with child forming
Love's not leaving your wife and your seeds with no warning
Love's not, and when it's raining it's pouring
Scoring no points you smoke joints, and toke your life away
You might have another year or two but you really died today
Display respect for yourself, or you can't love nobody else
The hand you dealt requires action, not just something you felt
I know what love is and it just don't stop
but I can explain it better when I say what love's not.
Yeah I know what love is, and it just don't stop
But I explain it better when I can say what love's not.
A house divided against itself is prone to utter desolation
So for this generation on the brink of extermination
I pour out a libation, a lyrical libation
In observation of the annihilation of the moral foundation
The desperation of the situation was clearly foretold
That in these last days the love of many would grow stone cold
And if hell is without love
Then all hell has broke loose in this culture
Feel the negativity circling overhead like a vulture?
The inverted priorities of the majority, squander the sacred
To give what's profane seniority
And incredibly we still fail to see collectively
The reasons why things fall apart like leprosy
Passion is the fashion taboos are taboo
Do you see through this voodoo
Cause it stinks like doodoo
Yo it's sad but too true how many don't have a clue
To the fact we'll be judged for all we think say and do
From east to west coast and all areas in between
Real love is like a ghost -- talked about but rarely seen
Except on TV screens where they flash these caricatures
That on the down low are meant to influence our characters
But love is not love when it's manufactured for the moment
That makes it more than the physical between a man and a woman
Wisdom is justified by her children in the end
And real love is being willing to lay down your life for a friend
Love's not caught in mug shots or seen in drug spots
Love's not sex or who you do next Love's not
Road rage, porno pages in the eyes of a racist
Loves not whoring and love's not abortion
Of course then love doesn't bomb clinics to make it finish
Love's not hate and love's not a cynic
Love's not seen on Jerry Springer or expressed by middle finger
And love is rarely captured in the words of any singer
Love's not domestic violence saying shut up for the silence
And love's not represented in the wail of the police sirens
Abandoned children in abandon buildings
Random killings, love's not slow to help you, love is ready and willing
Love is patient and kind, love is sight for the blind
Love was born before the morning, loves transforming your mind
Love is body and blood, bread and wine, remember the time
Love is God divine, crucified for mankind"

-You and Me (Lifehouse)
-From This Moment On (Shania Twain)
-Far Away (Nickelback)
-My Heart Will Go On (Celine Dion)
These are some pretty famous and recent love songs, all with good lyrics. I personally also think some of the Disney songs have great lyrics about love, such as:
-A Whole New World (Aladdin)
-I Know You (Sleeping Beauty)
-One Song (Snow White)
-Something There (Beauty and the Beast)
-Can You Feel the Love Tonight? (Lion King)
hope that helped!! <3

follow me to a land across the shining sea.
waiting beyond the world that we have known,
beyond the world the dream could be.
and the joy we have tasted.
follow me along a land that only love can see,
rising above the fond years of the night,
into the night beyond the tears
and all the years we have wasted.
follow me to a distant land that's mountain high
where all the music that we always kept inside will fill the sky,
singing in the silent swerve, a heart is free while the world goes on turning and turning, turning as falling.

An old Elvis Presley song, "As Long As I Have You." It's got a great line, "Let's think of the future, Forget the past, You're not my first love, but you're my last"
The lyrics are:
Let the stars fade and fall
And I won't care at all
As long as I have you
Every kiss brings a thrill
And I know that it will
As long as I have you.
Let's think of the furture
forget the past
You're not my first love
But you're my last
Take the love that I bring
And I'll have everything
As long as I have you
As long, as long as I have you.

In My Life by the Beatles would be my choice for number one.
There are places I'll remember
All my life though some have changed
Some forever not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All these places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life I've loved them all
But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life I love you more
In my life I love you more

John Denver: "The Memories of Love"
Enya : "Marble Halls"
I dreamt I dwelt in marble-halls
with vassals and serfs at my side,
and of all who assembled within those walls
that I was the hope and the pride.
I had riches all too great to count
and a high ancestral name.
But I also dreamt, which pleased me most,
that you loved me still the same.

heaven by DJ Sammy & Yanou featuring Do
Lyrics::
Oh - thinkin' about all our younger years
There was only you and me
We were young and wild and free
Now nothin' can take you away from me
We bin down that road before
But that's over now
You keep me comin' back for more
Baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
Oh - once in your life you find someone
Who will turn your world around
Bring you up when you're feelin' down
Ya - nothin' could change what you mean to me
Oh there's lots that I could say
But just hold me now
Cause our love will light the way
N' baby you're all that I want
When you're lyin' here in my arms
I'm findin' it hard to believe
We're in heaven
And love is all that I need
And I found it there in your heart
It isn't too hard to see
We're in heaven
I've bin waitin' for so long
For something to arrive
For love to come along
Now our dreams are comin' true
Through the good times and the bad
Ya - I'll be standin' there by you
